A small lily bouquet can hold more flowers than you might expect: a single stem may carry several buds. When comparing bouquets, look at how many flowers are open, as well as the height and width. If you have a particular vase in mind, tell us its dimensions before ordering.

White lilies with ribbon or wrapping

Ribbon-tied bouquets leave the stems visible and are easy to place in a vase once the transport wrapping is removed. White paper keeps the whole bouquet in one colour, while blue wrapping contrasts with the flowers. Use the product photograph and description to choose the finish you want. For lilies in another colour, ask what is available for your chosen date.

Choosing 3, 5, 7 or 9 lily stems

Three stems are an option for a smaller bouquet. For more flowers, compare the bouquets of 5, 7 and 9 stems. Bud counts and opening stages vary, so two bouquets with the same number of stems can differ in size. Ask for dimensions if the flowers need to fit a small table or vase.

Why some buds are still closed

Lilies often arrive with flowers at different stages of opening. Buds may open gradually, changing the look of the bouquet in the vase. If you are giving flowers at an event and would like more open blooms, tell us the date and time. We will check what we can prepare. The exact opening time of each bud cannot be predicted.

Fragrance and choosing a gift

Lilies can have a strong scent, and its intensity depends on the variety. For a birthday, anniversary or a gift for your mum, consider what the recipient likes. If the flowers will go in a small office or bedroom, discuss the fragrance with the florist before ordering. White petals alone do not mean a lily is unscented.

What affects the price of a lily bouquet

The price depends on the number of stems, flower variety and wrapping. A ribbon-tied bouquet and one in designer wrapping may cost different amounts even with the same stem count. Caring for lilies in a vase

Use a clean, stable vase, recut the stems and remove leaves that would sit below the water. Check the water level daily and replace it when it becomes dirty. Keep the bouquet away from radiators and direct sunlight. Pollen can stain fabric, so avoid brushing open flowers against clothing. Vase life depends on the condition of the flowers and their care.

Lilies in a home with cats

Lilies in the genus Lilium are toxic to cats, including the pollen and vase water. If the recipient has a cat, choose a gift without lilies and check the other plants separately. Removing pollen does not make lilies safe for cats.
